Of Traffic Lights

Anarchism says that there should not be oppressive traffic lights, that we must take our own chances when braving an intersection. Chaos!

Our social democracy says that the traffic lights are there because of the majority-held belief that they are necessarily for our safety. Thusly the traffic lights are distributed based on need.

A totalitarian regime might declare traffic lights unnecessary since public controlled vehicles are indeed a threat to the strength of the omnipotent regime itself. Instead, military tanks provide a sort of transit service to ferry the few people not mortified into staying indoors.

Suppose that’s why pencils have erasers. And why paramedics have defibrillators.
